■ What is Hanafuda?
A deck of 48 cards depicting the flowers and plants of the 12 months (4 per month). There are 4 card types ─ Bright cards (5 = strongest), Seed cards (9), Ribbon cards (10), and Chaff cards (24). Each month has its own set design.
■ Flow of Koi-Koi
Start with 8 cards in hand and 8 on the field. On your turn
① Play one card from your hand and take both it and a ”same-month” card on the field(if there’s no matching month, place it on the field)
② Flip one card from the deck, likewise match it to the same month and take it
Repeat this alternately with the enemy general.
■ Hands and Koi-Koi
With the cards you captured,役is complete,”Win”to lock in your score, or”Koi-Koi”, you can choose to continue and aim for a bigger hand (note: it’s risky if your opponent goes out first during koikoi).
